CASE STUDY

New-Entrant to Social Care

Indago Development has worked with a partner in India who attract and source aspirant carers for the UK care home sector. Indago then runs the ‘New-Entrant Training Programme: part 1 and 2’. Just in the last year, over 100 people have been educated, trained and developed and are now in care homes in the UK adding immense value to each organisation!

This is an extensive programme which, whilst having eight weeks of training, is much longer when we consider the attracting, sourcing and on-boarding in India, followed by the aftercare when in the UK. The end-to-end service runs over many months! Working in collaboration with others, each individual and their progress is at the heart of what Indago does.

One carer in a care home in England said, “I had training in Delhi where they showed us how to take care of old people. In India, we don't have the dementia care model so this was great learning for me. The training helped me to understand how to better care for others and to not be scared or frightened when we come to the UK. Having come to the UK, I have a manager who is very supportive. There's a lot of opportunities to develop which I am now doing to become a nurse in the future.”

A HR and Training Lead for a group of care homes in the England has recently said, “We have been able to recruit overseas candidates who have completed the New Entrant Programme; they’ve added to the quality of our organisation with their knowledge and willingness to share new learning. As a result they have become an integral part of our team. We could not be happier and look forward to working more with them in the future!”
